Dear Advocates,

This morning, 13 new senators will be sworn into office to join 36 other state senators for the 106th Legislative Session. The staff at Nebraska Catholic Conference has spent the last several months preparing to speak on behalf of the Catholic Church, defend human dignity, and advocate for the common good. Together with our three NebraskaBishops and you, our faithful advocates, we bear the light of Christ in the public square.

I write to ask you three things as we begin this 90-day legislative session:

1. PRAY for the staff at the Nebraska Catholic Conference and your elected officials. If you aren't sure who your elected officials are, visit this page and input your address. Please pray, also, for your official's staff, as they play an integral role in the lawmaking process.

2. INVITE three friends to join our advocacy network. There will be several important bills this session, and we know there is great strength and power in numbers. 3. ENGAGE in some of our upcoming advocacy opportunities. Save the date for our annual Pro-Life Mass on January 26 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary's in Downtown Lincoln. The Walk for Life sponsored by Nebraska Right to Life follows immediately at 10 a.m. beginning on the steps of the Nebraska State Capitol. Our annual advocacy day, Catholics at the Capitol, will be March 27. Stay tuned for more information!
